The Custom Regulations Head: The Green and Red Channel Systems


Whenever you cross the borders, it is a known fact that you have to deal with the immigration procedures that levies customs on you. These custom lines are divided in to the Red and Green Channel. You are suppose to go through a customs check up under every circumstances and therefore, the details of both of the channels is given below so that you know which channel you are suppose to visit when traveling.
The Green channel is for the people who are intact with the rules and regulations levied on them and do not need to declare anything. This means that you are carrying money and goods within the limit that is set by a certain country or state. However, you are not exempted of the Customer examinations and the Officers select the passengers that need to be tested on risk management. If you are found of exceeding the limits, you will be prosecuted for making un-true declaration by the customs.
If you have to declare any goods on money, you should go to the Red Channel. If you have dutiable commodities and are not, given the liberty of duty-free concession, dutiable commodities that exceed the duty-free concession or even if you are carrying any prohibited items when you arrive, you should go through the Red Channel to declare them immediately.
Except USA and Canada, most of the other countries have both of these channels for customs procedures. However, the European Union has a separate Blue Channel System that they make their customers go through in accordance to get a customs check. The passengers from the countries under the EU should go though the Blue Channel systems where they will be checked for any goods they are carrying that are prohibited. In addition, these countries do not even have to pay custom duties because they have common Customs.
